Ultracopier was originally released during the days of Windows XP, and while it now has Windows 10 support, it does not look like it. Not only is the UI a bit cluttered, but it looks more than a tad anachronistic too. The default user interface for Ultracopier is not among its selling points, and the default layout may even turn off the average user. You can also dictate which details you see, and metrics such as time remaining, items remaining and transfer speed are all highly accurate. Ultracopier provides all of these details and more. Time remaining as well as the corresponding progress bar is often inaccurate. The default Windows dialog provides basic information, such as the source, destination, size and time remaining. Better yet, if you are a power user, you can choose the copy engine as well as dial in the settings to maximize your transfers. Ultracopier can and often does make such transfers speedier. If you have ever transferred a large file in Windows, such as a movie, from one drive to another, then you know how slow it can be. One of the most intriguing aspects of Ultracopier is that it can make transfers faster. As a batch is being processed, you can pause the operation, skip a file or quit the operation altogether. You can even create batches with files being transferred to different destinations. Ultracopier, however, also provides the tools to set up your transfers. Ultracopier can do this as well but better, which we will touch on more in a moment. The standard Windows dialog only reacts to you copying or pasting a file. You can also run the Ultracopier program as needed, and this opens up a lot of possibilities. The next time you copy or paste a file, the Ultracopier dialog will appear instead. When you install it, it hooks into the Windows OS and effectively replaces the default file copy dialog box. Ultracopier is a free and open-source program that is made available to you via the GP元 license. The dialog is not really functional outside canceling transfers, and details like time remaining are usually not accurate.Įnter Ultracopier. If you perform many transfers, however, then you have noticed it, and it may leave a lot desired. If the file is small, this dialog is only visible for a brief period. Whenever you copy or cut and paste a file, Windows presents a file copy dialog box. FastCopy is a file copy and synchronization tool with a variety of available extras.Ultracopier replaces the standard Windows file copy dialog box with a more powerful version. It uses different strategies (multi-threading, buffering) to help ensure maximum device throughput, as well as optional verification to make sure data is transferred correctly. It does not use the system cache, so other processes do not get bogged down during the copy process and a speed setting is also available, including pause. It supports Unix-style include/exclude wildcards filters.Īlternatively, packages the last open source version as FastCopy Portable. Delete everything except FastCopy.exe and FastCopy.chm (in the doc folder).Select 'Extract only' (ether 'For x86' or 'For 圆4') during the process and extract to a folder of your choice. TeraCopy lets you copy or move files at the maximum possible speed. It uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times, as well as asynchronous copy to speed up file transfers between two physical hard drives. When an error is encountered during copying/moving, TeraCopy will automatically retry and skip the files that cannot be transferred instead of aborting the entire operation. It also shows failed file transfers and lets you recopy only problem files. Once the destination directory is selected, files can be dragged-and-dropped onto the window, even while a transfer is in progress. Once files are transferred, the Verify option uses a hash check to see if files are identical. Note that a Pro version of the program is available with additional features. Select " Portable version" and uncheck the option to " Associate with checksum files".Category:Īpplication folder: Options.ini and main.db
